It's unique in that there are twenty-four different stamp images on one sheet. Plus there are some bonus collage clips thrown in and an idea sheet with lots of photos.

Confection: Mixed Media Original and Prints - the Un-dreary Project

Confection2wb_2

It's getting more and more grey in the mid-Atlantic, with only a few days bringing snow but many having the feel and look of snow.

I'd much prefer a white reflection outside my window than a permeating murkiness.

Now, distracting with their lights, colors and general sparkle, the holidays occupy me. But in January the somber grey will still be here.

It's then that murky sky will start to chip away at me with a seeping melancholy.

It may be that I am tilting at windmills, but my project now is -

  • working on light images,
  • avoiding darkness when I can,
  • hoping to keep the dreariness at bay as long as possible.

Confection, shown here (- click on image to get a closer look -) is a mixed media art piece on an acid-free ground. The original was produced in December 2005 as part of my un-grey project.

It's as un-dreary as I could imagine, with blues and pinks with touches of lavender, peach, and even some greens and yellows.

Catch the Sun - Water Media and Mixed Media

Catch the Sun is an original mixed media piece which was created using inks - and the kitchen sink - on Aquarius II watercolour paper.

The piece itself grew in a curious series of self-steps as if the work was leading me in the direction it wanted to go - not unlike most of my more contemporary pieces. Maybe it should be said that it "grew itself," since that's accurate too.

This scene began to look - to me - like some sort of alien flower which found a home nestled between rocks in the high desert, nurtured by bouts of snowfall and days full of sun. As soon as that became clear to me I encouraged the details to go in that direction.

The original piece is out on approval to a collector's home. It is  priced at $875

It will most likely be have a final agreement on a new owner this week. As that status changes the notice will appear here.

Prints are available through the studio in hand signed and numbered limited edition of one hundred.

Matted with an 8 by 10 inch opening to fit an 11 by 14 inch frame they are priced at $95 each matted in acid-free materials.

The prints are also available with a coordinating frame, priced at and $195.
