Gifts from the Earth - a bright scenic landscape
Please note Change in availablity of Original
A high horizon in the painting Gifts from the Earth allows the viewer's eye to focus on the bounty of soft blues, yellows and lavenders in floral shapes nestled in a vintage wood wagon in the foreground.
A kiss of sunshine bathes the weathered grey wood and rusty wheels and we wonder whether horses drawing the wagon left it here or if the placement reveals something about the owner of the land we approach by a gravel roadbed beyond.
Tempted to linger on the bright flowers in a sea of green fields, our gaze moves past the wagon towards a hill and wooded horizon to a clear blue sky and promise of things to come.
Gifts from the Earth is a mixed water-media piece created in 2005 to aid Gulf coast residents recovering from natural disasters.
