Maitri, Tea, Synchronicity and Me

Artist /Writer Maitri Libellule writes about a new Tea Blog she's begun:

Glass_teapot
. . . it was bound to happen. When I finally
devote myself to something new, really devote
myself, it becomes a
passion a bit of an
obsession, and I immerse myself in it.

Well, isn't this an interesting development on many levels.

Why?

It's synchronicity that maks this topic come up just now.

Honestly, sometimes I think the fixation thing only happens to me - but I'm nearly certain that other artists experience the same thing.

Maitri's talking about the same weird thing and the artist Henry Moore: in Writings and Conversations writes about it as well.

My bet is that we're not alone. And that's not even counting Picasso and the whole "blue period" thing.

I wonder if you know what I mean because it's happened to you.

And as Maitri  brings up the topic of tea in her latest blog I can't help but remember that the very favorite thing I ever made in pottery class were small, simple, elegant tea bowls.

Black was lovely. And celadon was a second favorite.

Book

Plus - in another demonstration of coincidence, one of the books Maitri
recommends - Kakuzo Okakura: Book of Tea -
is on my Asylum Reading Shelf

I love the whole ceremonial part of it, and I appreciate that it's also available as digital download for something like a dollar and change if some of us can't manage to wait for the paperback to reach us in the snail mail.

And last but not least - -this must make it synchronicity don't you think . .

Adigio Tea was added to the supporters list in the left column two weeks ago , (Their "ingenuiTEA" brewer is so cool I can't even tell you )

Spooky, huh?

OK, so anyhow In the end it seems that whether it's art styles or teas or new ice  cream flavors or favorite colors - things come, things go, and some of them stick with us longer than others.

And somehow the topics get all intertwined in our lives sometimes.

I'm thinking that the tea thing is going to stick around with me for a while.
