Opportunity for September 11 Related Art

Tribute_3Gail Ellspermann points out an important project taking place within the art community on September 11th. It involves creating a piece of 9/11 relevant Mail Art of any size. The collection already includes over 1,500 pieces of Mail Art and it would be wonderful to include yours.

The one requirement is that it be mailed on 9/11/06

When your art piece is ready it can be scanned or photographed and added to a flickr album, your blog, etc, Then we'd love to see it, and it would be great if you would go the comment area below and add the URL where we can find it.

Bonus: If you add an image to your blog and send a trackback to the URL listed below ( see where it says trackback: http://www.typepad.com/t/trackback/5750418 ) your entry will appear right here below this entry.

Your creation can be mailed to: Remember September
P.O. Box 793 Katonah, NY 10536  USA

Documentation to all (randomly chosen entrants receive a CD with all images, all others receive an 11″x 17″ color poster of selected entries)

On 9-11-06 Bloggers all over the world will also honor the 2,996 victims in a personal tribute that you can read about here.

Make Money While You Sleep and other Get Rich Quick Schemes

MoneywhileyousleepMost professional artists are not normally rolling in money. And people who do art as a hobby spend their money on supplies, books and things that will be helpful in making art.

So we as a group are often the targets of people who want to sell us stuff or sign us up for something that will - you guessed it - bring in some extra dollars.

When it's someone selling us a blogging platform or a workshop designed to help us in some way that's one thing.

And though you likely won't get rich quick at least it's honest cash; and you don't have to keep changing your email address or blog URL to stay one step ahead of Interpol.

Traveling On Art Money's Tab

Spend Art Money!

OK, so now the word is that you can spend Art Money on Travel. Is this great news or what!!!

Maybe we should keep a blog, or even a wiki, where we can list where we spent Art Money and what the reaction was. Photos of the expressions on people's faces would be classic.

Direct from the BIAM website comes this Travel news -

"You can travel and stay over night where a "host" will accept your visit. It will cost one Art Money pr. person pr. night. As a traveller you simply find the host on the BIAM host list and take contact before hand to arrange a visit. You qualify as a traveller if you hold some Art Money to pay for accomodation."

I wish the US would get into this Art Money thing big time. I predict New Mexico and California will lead the way when it happens. Or I could be just wishing that would be so. Then I could make my New Mexico Sangre de Christo studio a reality.

Hey you cutting edge New Yorkers - any of this happening where YOU are?  We want details!

Reading PA - Market Your Art this Summer

I spent my early adult years just down the road in Philadelphia and Lancaster County, so of course I think this is a super idea. It's absolutely gorgeous country and a great way to spend summer Saturdays.

This is especially true since Reading's organizers have gone out of their way to make sure that a group of artists can do this at a bargain basement price.

But the best quote in this whole piece is here:

"It'll be artsy and a lot of fun!"

So read on, my artsy friends . . .
